Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: July 15, 2023
Full Chapters Due: August 10, 2023
Submission Date: August 10, 2023

Introduction

Climate change and its impacts has become an area of major concern in the 21st century and also a topic of considerable interest to the scientific community worldwide. This edited book proposes to primarily explore how climate change and variability affect the Quality of Life (QoL) of individuals and communities in the rural and urban settings across the globe. A detailed review of QoL assessments is proposed to be undertaken to examine the extent to which climatic changes and liveability conditions are covered in QoL evaluations and assessments. Moreover, resilience will be studied as a critical factor in maintaining Urban QoL and maintenance of sustainable living environments. The various models adopted across the globe for building more resilient and sustainable living environments in the face of adapting to climate change and its impact on QoL will be covered by the chapters of the book. The book will also attempt to identify the possible models to identify and develop the solutions to maintain and enhance QoL and build sustainable and resilient systems in the face of climate change and variability.

Objective

Quality of Life (QoL) has been a subject area of growing interest. One of the major factors that influences QoL of living beings is climatic conditions and variations. As evidenced in the synopsis above, many researchers have identified the gap in QoL assessments and comparison measures due to the non-coverage of climatic impact on QoL. These factors impact the QoL to a large extent and are critical goals to be met for creating aging-friendly and climate-neutral cities. Hence, the primary objective of the proposed book is to explore how climate change and its variability affect the Quality of Life of living beings across the globe in various settings. The major impact of the book will be through the reporting and documenting the association of climatic changes on the QoL and liveability in rural and urban areas which has not been researched by many. A detailed review of QoL evaluations and assessments to examine the extent to which climatic changes and liveability conditions are covered in QoL assessments is another necessary area that will be covered by this edited book. The book will add immense value to literature by bringing together resilience enhancing models in maintaining QoL and building sustainable living environments. An effort will be made to identify the possible models to identify and develop the solutions to build sustainable and resilient systems in the face of climate change and variability.

Target Audience

The publication will benefit researchers, academicians, policy makers, civil society groups, policy think tanks, Government and Non-Government organizations, International agencies and other interested agencies in building their capacity and knowledge base on climate change and its impacts on Quality of Life (QoL) and SDG attainments.

Recommended Topics

The edited book will have interdisciplinary focus on the Climate Change and its impact on Quality of Life (QoL) with a central theme on reviewing the strategies towards achievement of Sustainable Goals (SDGs). Secondary focus will be on the review of coverage of QoL assessment tools for inclusion of consequences related to climate change and variations.

Furthermore, proposing sustainable solutions, mitigation strategies and models to increase socio-ecological resilience are the prospective themes to be covered by the chapters. In the light of above, following is the indicative list of topic coverage:
 Climatic variations and future projections
 Technological advances in climatic variations and mitigation
 Climate change impacts and Quality of Life
 Implication for residential areas and liveability conditions
 Implications for commercial and non-residential areas
 Industrial solutions and sustainable adaptation
 SDG attainment towards SDG 13 ‘Climate Action’
 Strategies towards SDGs 14 ‘Life below water’
 Mitigation strategies towards SDG 15 ‘Life on Land’.
 QoL measures and inclusion of climatic variation in assessment instruments.
 Models of Urban QoL (UQoL) for climate change mitigation
 Resilience, QoL and climatic variations
 Applied Research in Quality of Life (ARQOL)
 Case studies on climate change mitigation/adaptation strategies in the face of QoL
 Best practices in climate change adaptation and social-ecological resilience
 Regional issues and challenges

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before July 15, 2023, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter.
